Solar Heat Gain Coefficient and Shading Coefficient
The effectiveness of glazing system is measured in terms of the percentage of solar energy that is either directly transmitted or absorbed and then re-radiated into a building
The Solar Heat Gain Coefficient is a measurement term used extenstively in the cooling industry. Another similar measurement more often used in the window film is the Shading Coefficient, which measure the performance of glass windows with film on them versus clear glass
The lower the Coefficient number listed for particular film the better it is able to reduce solar heat.
